Theu Viet – A journey of development
At the beginning of 2012, on a business occasion, Mr. Nguyen Van Cong accidentally met Mr. Tran Gia Huy. Both of them have got the same passion and dream to keep the values of Vietnam which have become more and more extinct. Since then, the idea of restoring the traditional hand embroidery of the ancestors came into being. In 7/2012, Theu Viet Art Quintessence Joint Stock Company was established. Nevertheless, the company initially met the difficulties due to the lack of knowledge on the embroidery, human resources and economy.
In order to create the fine & emotional embroidery which brings the devotion of the craftsman but still meets the strict requirements of the market, both young directors had to wander around the streets to learn about the feelings and demands of the embroidery lovers. The two also went to all the places of famous traditional embroidery villages such as Quat Dong – Thuong Tin, Xuan Neo – Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Da Lat … to study the principle of embroidery and concluded their own skills of embroidery.
Besides, the two young directors continued searching for the product outputs. The whole embroidery workshop worked ceaselessly; the company also recruited more embroiderers in order to train the new skills. As a result, all the matters were gradually resolved when the business has become better and the number of clients has increased more and more. Many customers from Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Binh, Nghe An … have come to the gallery, the workshop of embroidery in order to visit and learn about the skills. After 4 years of foundation and development, the company has got 7 establishments with more than 300 skillful embroiderers.
With the principle of “Preserving the culture – Bettering the Art”, Theu Viet has wished to bring the cultural values of the nation into the traditional hand embroideries such as Ao-dai, embroidered pictures, souvenirs… That is also the way to nourish the soul, helping everyone to think of the past.
